Students Should Have
Balanced Homework
Homework plays an important role in students’ daily life. Homework is
seemed as the most efficient and the best way to achieve academic approaches.
However; do students really need to do a large amount of homework every day?
For me, the answer was yes until I read an article called ‘Do Kids Need
Homework’. In this article, what experts have found through numerous studies is
that in order to increase their grades students have to have the right balance
of homework. And balanced homework does have positive impact on students’
academic approach. So, students should have balanced homework.
The first reason to support this thesis is that students are not playing
only as students’ role as they grow up. They should have amount of time to
enjoy their life, and to make their life more diverse. As we all know that life is only one chance.
We should make more width during this limited length time. That is to say to
increase life possibilities as much as we can. So, students should have time on
TV if they like. Because TV is benefit for these people to know the world by
very visual and sound way, especially for visual learners. Then if students like to experience, then
they should get time to go hiking, biking and so on. Because in these ways,
they can learn and get improved by a closed and experienced way for knowing
something new, especially for those people who prefer to experience by
themselves. Either example of these two improved that homework is not the only
way of learning, and balanced homework can make more extra time for students to
develop their interests and to learn and experience more.
Secondly, students are at the age of physically growth. They have
physical needs for their health. They have to get enough time to sleep and keep
in good emotion. From article ‘Do Kids Need Homework’, it states that large
amount of homework works not as well as people’s wants. Some impact it would
cause such as children’s bad mood, lack of sleeping time, health problems and
so on. This is a very serious problem. Life is only once, if we missed some
special time for us to do some particular things, then we would not achieve the
best results. For example, in China, parents are very worried about the height
of their children. In China, most of the students are in situation of lacking
of sleep. Sleeping time is the most important time for students’ skeleton, and
for bones to grow. If they missed their teenage time which is also called
golden time for growth, they are going to regret and sad for their life. So,
balanced homework would save students, and to improve and keep their physical
health.
Lastly, balanced homework would avoid some unnecessary homework which
does not function well. This would save students’ time, and students would
practice and focus more on what they really needed. Balanced homework should be
focused on what students really need. In Chinese, we have a sentence that
people should focus on what they are good at, and then people should dig it out
deeply. So, that causes the social circumstances that scientist, seller, doctor
and etc. A balanced homework would make more time for students, and they can do
more practice on the subject they would like to go deeper. This would cause the
students’ direction of study, and make their advantages compare to other competitors
in the future.
As a conclusion, large amount of homework for students is not a good way
for academic approach. Balanced homework would benefit students more, and would
have a better impact on students’ future life.
